Alledged Rape: D'baj Accuser Is Forced To Delete Tweets Says Lawyers

The lady Seyitan Babatayo, who accused popular Nigerian singer D'banj aka kokomaster of raping her has been forced by D'banj people to delete her tweet detailing her encounter with the singer in 2018, her says in an interview they had with Premium Times on Wednesday.

Ms Seyitan Babatayo's lawyer, Olamide Omileye of Ojoge, Omileye and Partners, told the newspaper that their client Ms Babatayo deleted the accusing tweets under duress while she was in the police custody on Tuesday.

According to her lawyer, Ms Babatayo was forced to post new tweets claiming that she wasn't arrested and that she just wants to move on from everything.

"They forced her to make those new tweets when she was in custody. They forced her to delete her tweets and intimidated her the out of her life," her lawyer said.

Earlier Premium Times had reported that D'banj accuser was picked up by policemen from Sodipo command in which was confirmed by her legal representatives.

Ms. Babatayo's lawyers have also said that the issue has escalated beyond her expectations as she only came out "to speak her truth, tell her story so everybody can move on".

In her lawyer's words:

"The girl has been so traumatised since she was released. She couldn't believe it. When she was relating what happened to us yesterday, she was crying so much that she said she slept in the same room on the floor with criminals. She couldn't believe that she was made to go through that by the Nigerian police, just because she wanted to tell her own story."

A lot of people have in recent times come on social media to speak their truth about being raped by popular people in Nigeria.

Alongside D'banj being accused, singers Brymo, Peruzzi and Obesere have been accused of rape and sexual misconduct against women in recent times. There have even been tweets from Peruzzi and Bruno that shows them encouraging and endorsing rape as well as sexual violence against women.
